Lesser Whistling Teal Dendrocygna javanica


Distributed all over India. Similarly, in the Northeastern part, Lesser whistling are well spread all over the states (Choudhury, 2000). Choudhury (2000) also mention it as a common occupant of Assam.

Habitat destruction, hunting for food and trading even for fun, Collection of eggs and live ducklings are common to this region.  
In India, it is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 which restrict its hunting, trapping and trading.
 Finally, it is us and only us make difference by protecting this beautiful species.
